UNIQUE VIEWS ON RIVA TRIGOSO PEAKS
From S. Bartolomeo church, climb old stairs among olive trees, with views on Petronio and Monte Pagano, you easily get to Borgo Ginestra. A small fortified village on the eastern slopes of Punta Manara, on of the most ancient of the area. Going up again, around 150 m, take the right trail number 4. After about 50 m, climb up on the left, among the vineyards, on a stone stairway. There is a panoramic terrace with a magnificent view on Gromolo and Petronio valleys, Monte Moneglia and Punta Baffe and Punta Manara promontories. Then you can continue climbing up to Monte Ginestra following steps carved into the rocks.
You will see path number 3 on your right, follow it and then turn right. After around 200 m in the pine forest, you get to the summit of Monte Castello (266 m). There is an equipped rest area and the ruins of some military posts built in 1943 from what remained of the Ca Vegia, then reinforced by the Germans.
