A UNIQUE PATH ON THE HILLS BETWEEN SESTRI LEVANTE AND CAVI DI LAVAGNA

Starting from Pietra Calante locality (near San Sebastiano church), take the road to the entrance of Camping S. Anna. The path starts on the right, initially following San Sebastiano stream, also called “Valle del Fico”.

You will find yourself in the western suburbs of the city, over the railway tracks (Genoa – La Spezia). The road was already present in Roman times, passing over the arduous cliff, always carriageable thanks to the construction of five bridges, kept in the Middle Ages and then renovated in the late 1700s.

Climbing up some hairpin turns, you get to the ruins of S. Anna Church, with a spectacular panoramic view on both coasts.

Sestri Levante, its two bays (Baia del Silenzio and Baia delle Favole) and the western part, Tigullio, with Chiavari in the foreground.

If the weather is good, Ligurian and Maritime Alps can be seen.

This path is one of the most interesting ones, historically, panoramically and environmentally. It is considered Site of Community Importance.

After a short break with sea view, continue towards Cavi, the seaside resort of Lavagna, on the road next to the ruins.
