NATIONAL PIANO COMPETITION “J.S. BACH”

The “J.S. Bach” National Piano Competition is an initiative that has been taking place for 35 years and it’s organized by Ars Antiqua, as part of a musical project dedicated to young people, which also includes the summer music festival “Festival Estivo di Musica da Camera” and autumn concerts “Concerti d’Autunno”.

“Ars Antiqua” is the Musical Association born in Sestri Levante with the aim of spreading the knowledge of classical music in the area, through many activities organized during the year.
The “J.S. Bach” National Piano Competition is an initiative that has been taking place for 35 years and it’s organized by Ars Antiqua, as part of a musical project dedicated to young people, which also includes the summer music festival “Festival Estivo di Musica da Camera” and autumn concerts “Concerti d’Autunno”.
This is a competition for young pianists, divided into 12 categories by age. Over the years, the Bach Prize has reached a leading position in the context of category competitions in Italy. In recent years, about 3,000 pianists have passed through the town of Sestri Levante, with the best piano schools competing every year.
The competition takes place every year in spring and it’s open to children even under the age of 10, with a dedicated category.Up for scholarships, cash prizes and the opportunity to perform in the extraordinary setting of the former Convent of Annunziata in Sestri Levante, a historic building overlooking the sea of the Bay of Silence, that has left many competitors, who arrived in Sestri Levante for the first time, breathless.
